WHY ADAM LAMBERT WILL WIN 'AMERICAN IDOL'

The over-the-top singer with serious pipes goes into the finals against Kris Allen

After a LONG (and I really, really mean long) season of the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL, we are down to the finals this week

I say long because I have written more than 35 reviews on the show this year alone. Most TV shows last 22 episodes. Aw well, anyone who reads me on a regular basis knows I’m no fan of the show. In fact, I hate it with a passion.

But, I have to cover it because I need this job. Damn you editor!
Anyway, after slogging through 13 contestants in the finals (they added one more because they thought it would be cute) and a new judge that proved to everyone that there was no need for a fourth judge, especially one that doesn’t give any real critiques, we are at the end.
Adam Lambert verses Kris Allen in Thunderdome. Two men enter, two men sing karaoke, one man leaves with a phat contract.
Here’s the reasons why Adam Lambert is going to win AMERICAN IDOL.
1) Judge love. Even when Adam didn’t sing his best and was a complete mess in terms of the arrangement and screaming at the top of his lungs for whatever reason, the judges never once (NOT ONCE!) gave him a bad critique. He may be the only one in the history of AMERICAN IDOL to never get any negative critiques. I think even Kelly Clarkson got a few “Meh, that was so-so” from Simon. Yet, Adam never got a bad review. They just slobbered all over him all season. He’s their favorite for sure even going to the point at the end of last week to say he “deserved it” and Paula calling him “the AMERICAN IDOL.”
2) The grand show. I can’t deny that Adam is a great performer. He gets up on stage and is a natural. He’s never nervous, never afraid of what he will do and it shows. That confidence is a strong reason while he will win it. He can get up there dressed in drag, dressed as a 60s singer, dressed in a thousand dollar suit and still delivers the goods. He’s a showman and a good one at that. That’s an attractive quality to Americans just looking to be entertained and damn the singing.
3) Voice. That’s not to say he isn’t a good singer. Yeah, he sounds a bit like a cover band artists just belting out rock tunes but he’s definitely got the voice and pipes to carry him to a record contract even if he didn’t win. Plus, not many people can reach the notes he can and that’s a cool thing to be able to do.
4) Tweens. While Kris Allen is definitely going to have a contingent here in terms of chicks voting for him. Despite the fact Adam is gay, the girls squeal when he performs and love his showmanship. He’s cute, he’s fun to watch and he can sing. That’s all good reasons to vote even if they won’t be able to get a backstage pass at his shows.
5) Gay. Speaking of being gay. Never discount the gay vote. They are a strong block of voters and very passionate about anything having to do with “one of their own.” So they are pulling for the first gay AMERICAN IDOL (even though Clay Aiken arguably could have been the first – since he wasn’t out yet I guess that disqualified him) and telling their friends, neighbors and anyone else who will listen to cast votes.
6) Hillbillies and old people don’t use the Internet. For all the reasons from No.-5, regardless of whether it is right, hillbillies and old people don’t like the gays. But lucky for Adam, they don’t use the Internet and not a damn thing has been mentioned on the show that Adam is gay. Had this come out (so to speak) or if they surfed the Internet (and saw the photos of him making out with any male he could get his tongue on), they may have stopped voting for him a long time ago. But somewhere in Mississippi a family in a trailer is still saying “Damn, I like that there Adam kid. He’s a bit weird lookin’ but he can sing.”
What do you think? Is this enough for him to win?
